Leading the change in responsible lending
Sustainability has finally grown in importance over the past years. Not just in the retail world, but also in the deferred payment space. We at Tinka have made it our responsibility to lead that change.
Therefore, our vision is to be the most-loved and responsible deferred payment provider in the Netherlands, and beyond. It is our mission to innovate payment experiences with responsibility, diligence, and care.
I consider deferred payment options as a way to put power in the hands of the consumers: 39% of Dutch consumers want to see, touch, and experience a product before they pay. And at least 50% of Dutch consumers appreciate the possibility to easily send items back (
Statista Global Consumer Survey 2020, November 2020). Deferred payment methods enable consumers to do exactly that – conveniently – without having to worry about whether they get their money back.
For consumer-oriented retailers and e-tailers, offering deferred payments quickly became a service to differentiate themselves in their proposition. By now, at least 53% of the 250 biggest Dutch online stores offer invoices and 19% offer instalments (
EcommerceDB, November 2020). The growth of invoiced, buy-now-pay-later, and instalment payments in the Netherlands, is a significant testimony to the appetite of Dutch consumers for this service.
